This is a five-room apartment in Netanya that was purchased as part of a price per tenant project, with a very basic specification of flooring and coverings that you can choose from, and without the possibility of electrical/installation planning or changes before entering the apartment. "The family was accompanied at a very early stage of choosing the basic materials for the apartment. When I recognized in advance the potential of the project and the planning changes that could be made in the future, explains the designer who believes in the project, Yael Shavit. A family lives in a 130 square meter apartment + 17 square meters of balcony 5 people, a couple and their three children, a teenager and two boys.
This is a warm family that loves to host. Since the apartment comes without a warehouse, the need for storage was an important step in the design of the apartment. Regarding the colors, they asked for monochromatic shades with an emphasis on a black kitchen. In order to provide heat and warm the space, it was agreed to combine the colors of blue and wooden elements.
At the planning level, the apartment has a central space, and a private space with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. Next to the entrance are guest services and next to them is another room. The designer decided to combine the small guest services in the additional room and create her own private suite for the teenage girl. According to Shavit, "the challenge was to unify the spaces, to enlarge the small bathroom so that it would also contain a shower and become a bathroom for everything, as well as to hide the unit in order to give the girl privacy and quiet due to the proximity to the entrance to the house and the living room."
n the process, the designer created a long carpentry wall from the entrance to the house to the display case leading to the balcony, 6.5 meters long together with Delkoub designers. The wall also serves as a designed TV wall, hides a communication and electrical cabinet and contains a niche for a future piano, with plenty of service and storage solutions and at the same time a spectacular design element. In the center of the wall are placed in a sophisticated way two doors that form a passage to the suite, behind them another interior door that gives it privacy. The carpentry wall is colored light gray and wood. Formica combined with veneer, including black touches that correspond with the kitchen. Also in the living room, blue tones were incorporated that merge with the sea visible from the balcony.
Still in the public space, the kitchen was transformed from a small and hidden contractor's kitchen in the shape of a resh, to a kitchen that "invades" the dining area in the form of a long and wide island with plenty of storage and a pantry. Since the entire kitchen was chosen in a black concrete tone, a wood-like cladding was incorporated on the wall behind the island, to create warmth in the space and to enrich the design style. The master bedroom continues the monochromatic coloring of the central space. With wallpaper that is a wall of strength and gives the space an additional layer of depth and a design statement. According to her, "We used an existing one to make a maximum size wall cabinet from Delkoub. We chose a sliding cabinet to allow easy access." The sliding wardrobe from Delkoub has a dramatic metallic finish, which complements the color palette of the space and makes it pop in an elegant way. The glass cutouts in the doors enrich the look and create an additional focal point in the space.
The children's rooms were designed in an optimal way, thinking ahead about the growing years and future needs. In the middle son's room (dimension) on the long wall next to the entrance, a large cabinet from Delkoub, used for both storage and display, was combined with an adjustable electric table. A bed and a half is placed on the opposite wall and another chest of drawers is in front of it for storage. This is a design that will be repeated in the teenager's room as well. The teenage suite is the highlight of the private spaces since the space required significant structural changes and re-planning, while choosing flooring, coverings and sanitary ware.
The color chosen for the teenager's room is different from the color that dominates the house. The teenager asked for softer and more pleasant colors of white, cream, powder and wood combinations. For the power wall visible from the living room, wallpaper with rounded shapes in peach tones was chosen that unifies the space and is a lovely background for the furniture and carpentry details.
The bathroom flooring was chosen in shades of gray, to create continuity between the flooring in the house and the space, with a design twist by choosing a young and fun terrazzo tile. Light and dark gray tiles of different sizes and textures were incorporated into the walls. A delicate powder shade was chosen for the sink cabinet, which softens the gray color.
