Palestinians assail Israeli after he drove into West Bank town, IDF says

Palestinian Authority security forces protected driver before IDF arrived on the scene, the IDF spokeswoman said.

Some 200 Palestinians hurled rocks at an Israeli man’s car on Friday after he mistakenly drove into Abu Dis, a Palestinian town on the outskirts of Jerusalem, an IDF spokeswoman said.
Shortly thereafter, the man fled from his car and Palestinian Authority security forces arrived and protected him, the spokeswoman said.
The PA security forces subsequently handed him over to IDF and Border Police personnel, who escorted him out of Abu Dis, she said.
In the meantime, the group of Palestinians torched the man’s car, the spokeswoman said. Pictures shared on Twitter show the man’s vehicle in flames.

The man, whom the IDF spokeswoman declined to identify, was lightly wounded.

In a tweet, Hamas Politburo member Husam Badran slammed the PA security forces for protecting the Israeli man.
“He who is running to protect settlers must review his belonging to Palestine,” Badran said.
PA security forces frequently hand over Israelis, who mistakenly enter Palestinian towns in the West Bank, to Israeli security forces.
According to PA Police chief Hazem Attallah, the PA security forces handed over 564 Israelis, who accidentally drove into Palestinian towns, to Israel between January 1 and November 8, 2017.
