Bayit Hayehudi MK questioned by police in sexual assault probe

Bayit Yehudi MK Nissan Slomiansky entered police questioning at Lahav 433 headquarters in Lod on Sunday over allegations of sexual assault, a police official said.
The questioning comes after Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit reportedly approved a police request to open an investigation into Slomiansky.
The allegations against Slomiansky from as many as eight women involve touching and kissing them against their will, including in the Knesset. The women have not filed formal complaints with the police, but have appeared before a panel of religious-Zionist rabbis and leaders. The panel subsequently asked for Slomiansky to step down.
Slomiansky denied the charges, saying that he does not know who complained about him, but that he feels “deep sorrow and pain” if anyone feels hurt by him.
Bayit Yehudi chairman Naftali Bennett has previously said that Slomiansky would not have to resign unless the accusations turned out to be true, while other Bayit Yehudi MKs and opposition MKs are calling for his resignation.
