IFCJ donates NIS 8 million in holiday gift vouchers

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews on Monday announced that they will be donating NIS 8 million in gift vouchers ahead of the High Holy Days.
The donation translates to NIS 200 vouchers for some 39,000 of Israel’s most needy citizens, and are eligible for use at the Shufershal supermarket chain and FOX clothing stores.
According to the IFCJ, the vouchers are intended to help recipients acquire food and clothing for the holidays “according to their needs and wishes in a discreet and respectful manner.”
The IFCJ raised the money for the vouchers through donations, mostly from evangelical Christians based in the United States.
IFCJ founded and president Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein said in a statement: “Israel is in the midst of a deep and social crisis with intolerable social gaps and poverty levels. During the holiday period, the neediness of people living in poverty is only accentuated when tens of thousands of families do not know how they will succeed to celebrate the holiday in a respectable manner.”
