Infant in serious condition after being left in locked car

A six-month-old baby was in serious condition at Yitzhak Shamir (Assaf Harofeh) Medical Center in Tzrifin after being left for approximately a half hour in a locked vehicle in Kfar Chabad in Wednesday’s searing weather.
Magen David Adom medics who were alerted found he was dehydrated and suffered from hyperthermia.
In early May, a year-old baby from Avnei Hefetz died when she was left for six hours by her mother, a hospital nurse, in her vehicle after she received a phone call from a friend and forgot to take the child to her nearby nursery school.
Beterm – The Israel Center for Child Safety and Health reported that since 2008, 482 young children had been left alone in a car and unable to get out.  Twenty-five of them died. Last year, seven children died from such negligence. The riskiest age is from birth to three years. Babies and toddlers under two years accounted for 42% of the cases, with May to September the most dangerous months.
