Japan holds evacuation drill amid heightened tensions on Korean peninsula

Nearly 150 residents took part in an evacuation drill in a coastal town of western Japan on Saturday in preparation for a possible missile launch by North Korea towards Guam that might fly over parts of the country.
The latest civilian anti-missile drill took place in Kotoura Town, Tottori prefecture, located near the missile's expected path.
As sirens blared from the city speakers, children playing soccer outside immediately ran into a school for shelter, led by their parents and their soccer team coach who said they were concerned about the missile threat.
US President Donald Trump warned North Korea last week it would face "fire and fury" if it threatened the United States, prompting North Korea to say it was considering plans to fire missiles toward Guam. Both sides have since tempered their rhetoric somewhat, but with North Korea's military capabilities growing, Japan has been looking to strengthening its defenses.
