Report: Members of Knesset to be allowed on Temple Mount for a day
By LAHAV HARKOV
Knesset members will be permitted to ascend the Temple Mount for one day, Channel 2 reported Wednesday.Lawmakers have been barred from visiting the site since November 2015, on the prime minister's orders, though the police has declared it safe and the Knesset Ethics Committee said the ban is a violation of parliamentary immunity.A planned pilot of renewing MK visits at the end of July was canceled after Israeli Arabs killed two policemen at the Mount, sparking a round of violence by Muslim worshipers.Earlier Wednesday, MKs Yehudah Glick (Likud) and Shuli Muallem-Refaeli (Bayit Yehudi) attempted to ascend the Mount, but were stopped by police. Some Arab MKs have successfully visited the site in the past without being recognized by the police.
