Shin Bet nabs Palestinian teens suspected of West Bank shooting attacks

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) cleared for publication on Sunday that it had arrested two minors for a shooting attack in January in the West Bank in an operation in coordination with the IDF’s Binyamin Regional Brigade and the Israel Police.According to the Shin Bet, two 17-year-old Palestinians from the West Bank village of Deir Abu Mashal carried out two shooting attacks against Israeli vehicles in the West Bank, not far from the village of Halamish on December 14, 2016 and January 27, 2017. The two were arrested several hours after the January attack.According to a statement released by the internal security agency, the arrests of the two minors occurred after the attack on January 27.During investigations, the Shin Bet found two Carlo Gustav improvised guns which following examinations, were found to match the bullets found at the scene of attacks. It further emerged that the two were involved in other attacks. No one was injured in either of the attacks.“This investigation reveals once again the involvement of minors in serious terrorist activities, as well as the real security risk posed by the terrorists' access to improvised weapons, which can cause considerable damage,” the statement read.“The Shin Bet considers these terrorist acts as very grave and life-threatening attacks, and together with its partners in the IDF and the Israel Police, the agency will work to prevent further terrorist activities and attacks.”
