IDF soldiers account for 25 percent of blood donated to Magen Adom Adom
“You officers and soldiers are an example for pure and significant giving,” said MDA blood services director Prof. Eilat Shinar.

A total of 68,500 units of blood – or 25 percent of the total – donated to Magen David Adom last year were given by soldiers. Certificates to mark this contribution of Israel Defense Forces personnel were distributed last week, MDA said on Tuesday.The voluntary first-aid, ambulance and blood-supply organization gives out certificates to soldiers each year.The top place in the command category was the Israel Air Force, while the No. 1 donors in the headquarters category were in the Home Front Command. In the division headquarter category it was the Galilee Division, while the Kfir Brigade headquarters was No. 1 in the regular brigades.“You officers and soldiers are an example for pure and significant giving,” said MDA blood services director Prof. Eilat Shinar.“This is real voluntarism, without any personal benefits to you except giving life to the wounded and those needing a transfusion of whole or component blood.”
