Physicians for Human Rights - Israel, petitioned the High Court of Justice on Thursday on behalf of a cancer patient from the Jabalya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.
Mahereb Mahmoud began chemotherapy at Beersheba's Soroka Hospital in March 2005. The hospital is prepared to perform a bone marrow transplant now, but the Palestinian Authority has notified Mahmoud that it can no longer pay for his treatment because of the current financial crisis.
PHR told the court Israel is partly responsible for the crisis because it has refused to transfer tax revenues to the PA.
