Labor leader says everything Netanyahu does is for his own political survival, asserts November 27 is best election date.
By GIL STERN STERN HOFFMAN, JPOST.COM STAFFLabor leader Shelly Yechimovich on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to dissolve the Knesset in its current session and to schedule elections, ending what she described as a "two-month political circus" that brought shame on the political system.Asserting that the public wants and deserves elections, Yechimovich pointed to November 27 as the best date to go to the polls. Elections would need to be called this week before the summer recess begins in order for polls to take place this year.Referring to the arrival of Kadima in the coalition two months ago and its departure Tuesday, Yechimovich said "we have reached an all-time record of political opportunism."The Labor leader pointed to what she described as her own consistency in criticizing the coalition, saying, "Not for even one minute did I think that this pathetic embrace between Kadima and Netanyahu would produce any results."Netanyahu's vision, she said, "is a vision called Binyamin Netanyahu." The prime minister is not governing on a socioeconomic path, a diplomatic path or a civil path: "Everything (Netanyahu does) is for political survival and the State of Israel deserves more."
