Vast majority of public think courts' sentences too lenient

A Geo-Cartography survey found that two-thirds of the public believe that the courts are too lenient in the sentences they impose, Army Radio reported Tuesday. The report was presented at the Netanya Academic College on Monday.

Against the backdrop of multiple unusually disturbing murders and rapes, 38% of those surveyed said that when imposing fines, courts should ignore a convicts economic circumstances. 31 percent said that a convict's economic circumstance should be taken into account at sentencing.
