Three new fire planes join Fire and Rescue Service

Three new water-dropping planes joined a growing fleet of Fire and Rescue Service aircraft this week. The aircraft were flown to Israel from Spain by Spanish pilots, who took a week to fly across Europe due to treacherous weather conditions.
The fleet was set up following the 2010 Carmel Fire disaster.
Fire officials said a total of eight aircraft, capable of carrying 3000 liters of water and fire retardants, are now at the service's disposal.
