NGO: Palestinian hunger strikers health deteriorating

The lives of three Palestinian hunger strikers imprisoned in Israel are in danger, an Israeli NGO said on Thursday.
According to Amany Dayif of Physicians for Human Rights – Israel, hunger striker Hassan Safadi was transferred to Assaf Harofeh hospital on Wednesday, after he upped his hunger strike, and stopped drinking fluids altogether.
Dayif said the organization fears for the life of Safadi, who they said has been on hunger strike for 85 days, as well as prisoners Sammer Al-Bark and Ayman Sharawni, on their 115th and 75th days respectively.
She also expressed her dismay at reports that Hassan is currently shackled to his hospital bed.
Sivan Weitzman, a spokesperson for the Israel Prison Service, said Thursday evening that "all three men have willingly been on a hunger strike for some time, fully aware of the danger inherent to their physical health.
