Hamas official supports Ashton amid Toulouse controversy

A leading Hamas official threw his support behind European Union foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton, after a remark she made about the murder of a rabbi and three children in front of a Jewish school in France drew the ire of Israeli politicians.
In the contentious remark, originally reported by Agence France Presse Monday night and later verified by an official EU printout of Ashton's speech, she told a group of Palestinian youth in Brussels: "When we think about what happened today in Toulouse, we remember what happened in Norway a year ago, when we know what is happening in Syria, and we see what is happening in Gaza and in different parts of the world - we remember young people and children who lose their lives."
Writing on his Facebook page, Hamas political bureau member Izzat Al-Risheq said that Ashton deserves thanks for her "mention of the children in Gaza."
Risheq commented that Ashton's remarks evoked "great anger on the part of the Zionists."
"She deserves thanks, appreciation, and support in the face of Zionist attempts to terrorize and pressure her," Risheq wrote.
