Police have launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping of a child Wednesday afternoon in the Givat Ze’ev settlement, roughly five kilometers northwest of the city, after receiving a call from an eye witness who claimed to see a boy forced into a vehicle. While police are taking immediate action to investigate the possible abduction, spokesman Micky Rosenfeld noted that as of 8:30 p.m. no formal complaints from the child’s family have been filed.“We have set up roadblocks in the surrounding area and are taking this very seriously, but as of now have found nothing, and no family member has reported the incident,” he said. Moreover, Rosenfeld said police have received multiple calls over the last two weeks making similar claims, despite finding no evidence.“We had three or four separate calls like this today, and several others in the last two weeks from people claiming they saw a child pushed into a vehicle, however until now there have been no kidnappings whatsoever,” he said.Nonetheless, Rosenfeld said police are leaving nothing to chance.“Until a case is closed, all the necessary steps are being taken with the utmost seriousness,” he said.
