Another visit, and stuck on the road again

With much of capital affected, US president’s trip expected to cause severe traffic delays.

Major traffic delays and interruptions are expected during US President Barack Obama’s three-day trip to Israel from Wednesday, March 20 to Friday, March 22.
According to the Jerusalem Municipality, the following delays are expected on Wednesday, March 20: Route 1: Expect major delays during the morning from Jerusalem to Ben-Gurion Airport.
The road will be closed from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Closed Jerusalem streets: The route from Keren Hayesod Junction (Plumar Square) to Agron Junction (Hameches Square) will be closed to traffic during the entire visit. Residents of the area will have to present an identity card along with proof of address in order to park.
Parking prohibited on: Admoni Street, King David Street, Hameches Square, Agron Street, Paris Square, Ramban Street, Samuel Wise Street, Museum Row, Kaplan Street, Arlosoroff Street, Hanassi Street, Wingate Square, Smolenskin Street, Keren Hayesod Street, Plumar Square, Balfour Street, Ha’ari Street, Emile Botta Street.
Vehicles parked on these streets will be towed.
The Israel Museum will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Yad Vashem will be closed on Friday.
The light rail is expected to operate as normal.

Police will deploy over 5,000 officers to secure each day of the presidential visit. They will join large deployments of Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) officers and IDF troops, who will work together with Obama’s security detail during the visit.
