Israel experienced wintry weather conditions this weekend, with considerable snowfall in the North forcing authorities to close the roads up to Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights.Authorities also closed the national parks at Carmel's Ein Hemed, Nahal Amud in the Upper Galilee and Ein Gedi near the Dead Sea, according to Army Radio.RELATED:A frosty winter Temperatures dropped to below average levels for the season, at 9-14 degrees in Tel Aviv, 4-7 in Jerusalem and 6-9 in Nazereth.Authorities advised against swimming in the Mediterranean Sea due to dangerous currents and undertows.Thunderstorms and torrential downpours drenched most of Israel Friday, flooding streets in Tel Aviv and Haifa. The heaviest rainfall fell in Yavne: 77 millimeters. Jerusalem saw 42 mm and Tel Aviv 36 mm.Local showers were expected to continue throughout Saturday, letting up by the evening with partly cloudy skies expected Sunday.Temperatures will increase slightly Sunday, but still remain low for the season.
