Israeli wins gold at World windsurfing Championship

For the second time in her career, Lee Korzits won a gold medal in the ISAF World windsurfing Championships. Thanks to her Sunday win in Perth, Australia, she has become the only Israeli to win two awards in the competition. Korzits became the youngest ever winner of a windsurfing gold at the World Championships at the age of 19 in 2003."This is one of the happiest moments in my life," Korzits told the Sport 5 Channel. "I'm trying to enjoy every moment and feel proud to be Israeli."RELATED:Korzits on verge of goldIn a congratulatory telephone conversation to the champion, President Shimon Peres told Korzits that if he had long enough arms he would reach out and hug her all the way in Australia, according to Israel Radio.Calling Korzits's achievements unprecedented, Peres told her, "You're amazing, the nation loves you."Opposition leader Tzipi livni also praised the 27-year-old in a press release, saying that her win brought "brought great pride to the State of Israel."The country's achievers "put Israel on the map of accomplishment and excellence, instead of headlines dealing with conflict and government policy," Livni said.Allon Sinai contributed to this report.
