Israel's contingent to the Winter Olympics in Sochi participated in the opening ceremony of the 2014 games Friday night.
Five athletes representing Israel were sent to the Russian city to compete.Israel has never sent more than five athletes to a Winter Olympics, with the delegations in 2002 and 2006 also numbering five members.The Israeli team consists of figure skaters Alexei Bychenko and the duo of Evgeni Krasnopolski and Andrea Davidovich, as well as short-track speed skater Vladislav Bykanov and skier Virgile Vandeput.
