Norwegian Eighties pop legends A-ha will be performing in Israel for the first time at Tel Aviv’s Exhibition Grounds on June 21 as part of their 2018 Electric Summer tour. The band was formed in Oslo in 1982 by vocalist Morten Harket, keyboardist Magne Furuholmen and guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy.In 1985, A-ha released their debut album, Hunting High and Low, which catapulted into international stardom. Peaking at No. 1 one in the Norwegian charts and No. 2 in the UK, the album featured the tracks “The Sun Always Shines on TV” and the smash hit single “Take On Me.” The music video for “Take On Me” – in a pencil-sketch animation/live-action combination called rotoscoping – won six awards and was nominated for two others at the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards.“For us you have to make peace with that song because it’s stronger than you in a way. It’s not going away,” Harket said in a recent interview with Reuters when asked about the continued popularity of “Take On Me.” “We played it to death... but the public don’t get sick of it somehow.”Since then, the band have gone on to sell over 80 million records. Some of their biggest hits include a cover of the Everly Brothers’s “Crying in the Rain,” the James Bond theme “The Living Daylights,” “Stay on These Roads” and “Summer Moved On.”Tickets range from NIS 399-699.For tickets visit www.a-ha.co.il or *9066.
