Congressional candidate Mark Roberts running in the Oregon district elections tweeted a line of antisemitic comments against Shoshana Weissmann, a Jewish digital media editor of a conservative think tank. 'Off with your #Yarmulke and I'll take a ginsu to your pe'ah too!' tweeted Roberts on Monday in response to criticism from a user shocked by his tweets. Off with your #Yarmulke and I'll take a ginsu to your pe'ah too! #oyveyismere you people are so stupid. — Mark Roberts (@RobertsforCD2) August 13, 2018 Roberts is running as the Oregon candidate for the US House of Representatives on behalf of the Independent Party of Oregon. His antisemitic tweets against Weissmann follow a previously heavily criticized tweet about Melania Trump, calling her a 'hoebag'. 'Did you know the First Lady works by the hour?' is the tweet that inspired Weissmann's original criticism and led to the back and forth spat. Roberts has since deleted the offensive tweet against Melania Trump, but in response to several complaints reported that Twitter did not ban him, as he broke no platform rules. 'It's that whole 1st amendment thing.' On August 1st, Weissmann commented on the affair calling Roberts an idiot, and said, 'he doesn't understand how the first Amendment works'. So he's an idiot and also doesn't understand how the First Amendment works https://t.co/51pPKmRZFF @glamourmag @CelesteKatzNYC https://t.co/aS6a5vS4C5 — Shoshana Weissmann, Sloth Committee Chair (@senatorshoshana) August 1, 2018 Roberts apparently decided the comment did not deserve a written response, and instead simply tweeted a Hanukkah video in . https://t.co/O1zRQcHnvh — Mark Roberts (@RobertsforCD2) August 13, 2018 Weissmann replied to the Hanukkah tweet saying, 'He figured out I'm Jewish!!! GENIUS! And I try so hard to hide it!', inviting the aspiring congressman to reply, 'Yeah, it was tough, the face gave it away'. Roberts' line of defense for his antisemitic tweets is that he is Jewish himself. Yeah it was tough the face gave it away, if only you were smart enough to figure out I'm Jewish #nitwit — Mark Roberts (@RobertsforCD2) August 13, 2018 Several other twitter users passed judgement on the Hanukkah video, to which Roberts replied the offensive 'off with your Yarmulke' comment and 'How can a Semite be an anti-semite?', leaning on his proclaimed Jewish heritage as a free-pass for his comments. How can a Semite be an anti-Semite? #askingforafriend — Mark Roberts (@RobertsforCD2) August 13, 2018
