"The resistance succeeded in deterring Netanyahu's army, and our message to him is that this round is over, but the confrontation will end only after our rights are achieved," Sami Abu Zouri, Hamas spokesman, said.
Netanyahu, in a four-sentence statement issued by his office, made no reference to a ceasefire on Monday.
"Over the past two days, we have hit Hamas and Islamic Jihad with great force, attacking over 350 targets, hitting terrorist leaders and activists, and destroying terror towers,” Netanyahu said at the cabinet meeting.
“The goal was and remains to ensure quiet and security for residents of the south,” he said. “I send condolences to the families [of the victims] and wish the wounded a speedy recovery."
