Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may be planning to remove Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked from their ministerial posts before the elections, Hadashot News reported Saturday.
Bayit Yehudi members of the Knesset approached Netanyahu earlier in the week, asking him to remove Bennett and Shaked from their posts.
In response to a request for a reaction to the report, Likud responded "no comment," according to Hadashot.
Likud later responded to the report saying that the party had not received any request from Bayit Yehudi to remove the two former party leaders.
Earlier in the week, Yoav Gallant left the Kulanu party and the Knesset in order to join Likud. As part of the move, Gallant gave up his position as Housing and Construction Minister, and was appointed Aliyah and Immigration Minister - a precedent that does not bode well for Bennett and Shaked, who left their party but retain their ministerial posts, the report said.
Bennett and Shaked announced that they were leaving Bayit Yehudi and forming a new religious and secular partnership, Hayemin Hehadash, that will run in the April 9 election.
