Queen of the United Kingdom Elizabeth II appointed a new ambassador to the State of Israel on Thursday.
Her majesty chose Neil Wigan who will start his appointment in June 2019. The previous ambassador, David Quarrey will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.
“Israel was my first overseas Post, and I have always wanted to return," Wigan said. "I am delighted to be Ambassador at an exciting time in the UK-Israel partnership. I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.”Wigan Director of the Africa Directorate and previously served as Head of the Political Section at the British Embassy in Israel, Deputy Director for Middle East and Wider World at the Cabinet Office and as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Kinshasa and Mogadishu.
