At the UN in New York on Tuesday, Haley told reporters that President Trump is very adamant that “we have to start making sure that Iran is falling in line with international order like every other country.”The US was concerned by Iran’s engagement in Middle Eastern countries such as Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, Haley said.Iran’s “spread” across the Middle East in supporting terrorism, its ballistic missile testing and its sales of weapons, “are all violations of security council resolutions. These are all things that are threats to the region,” said Haley.“It is hard to find a place that has conflict where Iran is not in the middle of it. We think that is a problem. We think that they have been ignored and given a pass for too long.“We want to make sure that they understand the world is watching. That is the biggest reason for this meeting. and there is nothing we would love more than to have Iran come into the mainstream international community and be a valid country that wants to do good in the world.”Haley said the point of the UNSC was not to pass a resolution about Iran, but rather to hold a discussion with heads of state on how to combat Iran’s international aggression.Trump plans to chair the high-level Iran meeting during the monthly UNSC session devoted to the situation in the Middle East. Often that debate heavily focuses on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and gives countries an opportunity to publicly attack Israel for its treatment of Palestinians.The last time the US held the rotating UNSC presidency Haley attempted to refocus the debate on Iranian aggression.Iran is still subject to a UN arms embargo and other restrictions contained in the resolution, which enshrines the nuclear deal.In February, Russia vetoed a US-led bid for the Security Council to call out Tehran for failing to prevent its weapons from falling into the hands of Yemen’s Houthi group, a charge Tehran denies.In Washington, Trump said on Wednesday he remained open to the possibility of talks between Washington and Tehran, but said Iran was in turmoil and struggling to survive.Reuters contributed to this report.There's only one UNSC resolution on Iran. .@realDonaldTrump is violating it & bullying others to do same.
