With pleasant weather expected for the weekend, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority has announced a packed list of activities to enjoy over the weekend throughout the country.A walk in the blossoming sands of Tel Ashkelon“Lay your head on a dune” – A hike on a sandy trail with a view and flowers.An enjoyable family hike in the lesser known part of the Tel Ashkelon National Park. Climb on the wall surrounding the old city, then walk the length of the wall until you reach the sand and sea. There, you’ll find an abundance of blossoming flowers, signs of deer, a variety of different seashells and more.Along the length of the 3-kilometer (about 2 mile) trail, you’ll meet guides from the Nature and Parks Authority at stations with educational activities.Where: Tel Ashkelon National ParkWhen: Saturday, March 9, between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.Cost: Regular entry fee to park, free to members
Happy ninth birthday to the hanging path at BaniasNahal Hermon (Banias) is one of three main tributaries of the Jordan River. To celebrate nine years since the opening of the hanging trail, come to enjoy an exciting day for the whole family, including arts and crafts, educational activities and other surprises which will allow you to meet the wonderful world of plants and animals in the reserve.Where: Banias Nature Reserve – Banias WaterfallWhen: Saturday, March 9, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.Cost: Regular entry fee to park, free to membersIn the case of stormy weather, please call the reserve at 04-6950272 to verify that the event is happening.“Scenery, birds and challenges at the Arbel Cliff”The Nature and Parks Authority invites you to the Arbel Nature Reserve for family activities combining breathtaking scenery and cliffs, hidden caves and physical challenges. Spring reminds us that at Mount Arbel there are lookout points, beautiful walking trails for the whole family and a fascinating history.Come and get to know the plants and animals through the eyes of an ecologist, answer riddles and learn about the ancient history of King Herod and more recent history by meeting the researcher Henry Baker Tristram, who will tell you about the Syrian Bear and the nesting vultures that he saw here 156 years ago.Families with children seven years old and up are invited to continue the hike on the more challenging trails.At the end of the missions and challenges, there will be a certification ceremony for young inspectors.Where: Arbel National Park and Nature ReserveWhen: Saturday, March 9, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.Cost: Regular entry fee to park, free to membersAncient crafts next to the caves in Beit GuvrinAt the end of the winter season, Beit Guvrin National Park is covered in green and blooms with beautiful colors, the caves are sparkling and all are invited to come and walk around. The Nature and Parks Authority has decided to prepare a special, small taste of the early crafts that characterized the periods that the early residents of Maresha and Beit Guvrin lived in. In the courtyard of ancient crafts (next to parking A), two craftsmen will alternate. They’ll show you examples of their work and display their products, so you can be impressed by blacksmithing, thread spinning, fabric weaving and coin minting.Where: Beit Guvrin National ParkWhen: Saturday, March 9, 16 and 30, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.Cost: Regular entry fee to park, free to membersTour of blossoms and a unique quiz about the Nazareth irisThere are flowers that can only enjoy their brilliant beauty and the tranquility that nature places around them in the cold season. On a spring hike to the blossoming of the Nazareth iris in the Tzipori Natural Park, you’ll walk along the Orchard Trail to the ancient synagogue and finish off at a beautiful lookout on the Atzmon Ridge.
