Former IDF chief of staff Benny Gantz will enter politics and form his own party, Channel 2 reported Wednesday. The report said that Gantz was working on forming a party and registering it for the next election, which could be held as early as January and must take place no later than November 2019.According to the report, Gantz has decided not to join either the Zionist Union or Yesh Atid at this stage, because he wants to be a senior minister and realizes it is unlikely that either party will join the next government if it is formed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.Gantz's confidant, Giora Inbar told Army Radio that Gantz will not be joining Likud. If Gantz forms his own party, he could use it to join another party later on, ahead of the election.
