On Wednesday, Omar’s senior communications director and strategist, Jeremy Slevin, reacted to a tweet by Omar, which was directed at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Omar wrote, “To confront hate and bigotry in all its forms, we must understand that they are all related. We cannot call out one form of hate while turning a blind eye to another.”
In reaction, Slevin tweeted:

Slevin’s remarks were met a flurry of comments, including some by Tablet magazine writer Yair Rosenberg, who has been covering antisemitism for a number of years for the Jewish press. Rosenberg informed Slevin that antisemitism is “not a Muslim problem, a Christian problem, a left problem or a right problem. It is a human problem.”
Writer and political consultant Emily Schrader commented, “So how does it feel to be on the same side as both David Duke and Louis Farrakhan?”
And one random follower from New Jersey wrote:

In the thread it did come out that Slevin himself is Jewish. He wrote, “I am Jewish and my family also fled Russia. I am well aware of Soviet persecution.”
