A high-ranking Hamas delegation in Cairo announced its preparedness to hold reconciliation talks with Fatah, Hamas said in a statement.Hamas released the statement on Monday night following a meeting between its representatives, led by Politburo Chairman Ismail Haniyeh, and Egyptian Intelligence chief Khalid Fawzy.“The delegation affirmed its readiness to hold meetings with Fatah in Cairo immediately to achieve an agreement,” Hamas said.Over the past 10 years, Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, and Fatah, which dominates the West Bank and the Palestinian Authority, have signed a number of reconciliation deals, but failed to implement them.The Hamas delegation, which includes several senior officials from Gaza and the abroad, arrived in Cairo on Sunday.
