"Iran, Syria and Hezbollah are working on establishing a resistant society in the Golan Heights", claimed a Lebanese MP during a radio interview on Tuesday.According to Lebanon's Daily Star, the MP Walid Sukkarieh went on to say that the goal of this resistant society was to prevent Israel from normalizing relations with locals in the mountainous border region, adding that doing so is "a great responsibility for the axis of resistance."On Sunday an airborne strike killed a dozen Hezbollah and Iranian figures traveling in a convoy on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights. Among those killed was the son of former Hezbollah chief Imad Mughniyeh, Jihad, as well as six Iranian Revolutionary Guard officers, including one general. The Lebanese politician also asserted that Israel has been trying to establish strategic links with rebel factions fighting the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, specifying in a separate newspaper interview that Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaida affiliate is a major beneficiary of these efforts.Throughout the war, which has raged for over three years, Israel has often treated Syrian civilians injured in the fighting. Israel's Health Ministry claims that around 1,000 Syrians - exclusively civilians - have been admitted into nearby hospitals, but other actors such as the UN have reported evidence of Israeli figures meeting with figures east of the Syrian-Israeli border who appeared to be combatants.“Syria sent resistance groups to the Golan Heights more than one year ago,” Sukkarieh said. Sakkarieh, a retired Lebanese Army Brigadier General, echoed other reports concerning Hezbollah's reaction to the strike, saying that immediate action is not a priority for the terrorist group but that the incident was just one event in the ongoing conflict between Israel, Iran and its allies.
