PA President Abbas discharged from hospital after 'routine checks'
A hospital doctor told the Palestine TV channel that "all the checks demonstrate that [Abbas] is in good medical condition".

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was discharged from hospital on Saturday evening after undergoing "routine medical checks in hospital in Ramallah," reported the Palestinian news agency Wafa.A hospital doctor told the Palestine TV channel that "all the checks demonstrate that [Abbas] is in good medical condition".Abbas' spokesman rejected social media suggestions that the Palestinian leader was in ill health. "President Mahmoud Abbas underwent medical checks, and they show that he is in perfectly good health."Abbas' spokesman, Nabil Abu Radeina, said earlier Saturday that "President Abbas was taken to hospital to undergo routine checks that will take a number of hours."Palestinian sources told The Jerusalem Post's sister newspaper Maariv that "82-year-old Mahmoud Abbas is suffering from exhaustion. He returned from his China visit last Friday and arrived to Ramallah straight from Amman where he managed an emergency meeting lasting nine hours on the al-Aksa crisis and it seriously affected him."The source added that "unconfirmed information suggests that Mahmoud Abbas will undergo a gastrointestinal endoscopy."In October 2016, Abbas was hospitalized in Ramallah and underwent a cardiac catheterization procedure.
