Police chief holds security assessment in light of rockets
The police commissioner instructed the police to coordinate with all other security officials to ensure synchronized functioning.

Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich held a special security assessment on Monday night, with the participation of his deputy, Zohar Dvir, regarding the security situation in southern Israel. Head of the operations division Lt.-Cmdr. Alon Arieh and intelligence officials from the Israel police also attended the briefing, which was held at the National Headquarters of the Israel Police.The police commissioner instructed the police to coordinate with all other security officials to ensure synchronized functioning. The police have bolstered their forces in the southern district, including special units, in coordination with the IDF.Alsheich placed an emphasis on the subject of civilian assistance and providing a real-time response to the population in residential areas in the southern district, which has been under heavy attack since the afternoon. He stressed the importance of close cooperation with the various security bodies, with an emphasis on assisting the IDF, as well as working together with emergency services.Alsheich was set to hold another security briefing later on Monday night in the south.The southern district police commander also held a special assessment of the situation in Sderot and later in Netivot.“The behavior of civilians according to the instructions so far is remarkable,” the police said. “We will continue to work in cooperation with the professional forces in order to increase the residents’ sense of security and provide a quick response at every scene and incident.”Police called on the residents of the south to stay away from projectiles that have fallen on the ground and not to touch shrapnel, suspicious objects or kites and balloons that may be flammable. They instructed them to call the police if they see any suspicious object and to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command and stay in reinforced buildings, according to the instructions.
