Security forces announced on Monday the arrest of a terror cell that carried out a number of firebombings and pipe bomb attacks on a military academy in the West Bank. The cell attacked the Elisha academy and the adjacent Halamish settlement, in the Binyamin region, repeatedly during January and February this year, the Shin Bet said. It said all of the suspects were from the Palestinian village of Beit Rima, in the Ramallah region. They were arrested in a joint Shin Bet - IDF - Israel Police operation. The six suspects, aged 19 to 23, carried out five attacks during the two month period, the Shin Bet said, adding that bombs and firebombs were thrown out a vehicle and that the assailants were masked. The case material will be passed on to the military prosecution in Judea, the Shin Bet said. The investigation underlines the "many dangers posed by the activity of local cells, and the high motivation that exists among terror operatives to carry out attacks," the Shin Bet stated.
