Actress Smadar Yaaron, co-artistic director of the Acre Theater Center, has been invited to participate in "Encounters," Berlin's salute to the state's 60th anniversary.
Yaaron will sing a medley of songs in Hebrew, Arabic, English and Yiddish, accompanying herself at the piano. The actress is known to German audiences for her award-winning monodrama Wish Upon a Star and for Acre Theater Center's most famous export, Arbeit Macht Frei.
Others participating are the Batsheva and Yasmin Godder dance companies and the fringe play Auntie Frieda. The Berlin Senate and Germany's Ministry of Culture are supporting and funding the events.
