Apparent rocket from Gaza sets off warning sirens in South

It is believed that a projectile launched from Gaza fell in an open area, but the IDF says it could not confirm where the rocket fell.

Citizens of the South were forced to seek shelter after hearing an air raid siren on Tuesday.
Residents in the Sha’ar Hanegev Region reported hearing a blast in their area.
It is believed that a projectile launched from Gaza fell in an open area, but the IDF said it could not confirm where the rocket fell, or whether it crossed the border into Israel.
“A siren went off, and residents heard a blast. Searches are under way,” said an army spokeswoman, adding that “no rocket remains have been found at this stage.”
On July 24, residents in the South near Gaza reported hearing two blasts following a Palestinian rocket attack. A total of four rockets have been fired at Israel in the past two weeks. The identities of those behind Tuesday’s incident are unknown.
In recent months, Hamas, keen on consolidating its rule over Gaza, has made an effort to crack down on al- Qaida-affiliated groups and Islamic Jihad and prevent them from firing projectiles into Israel, in order to avoid Israeli retaliation.
