Luche Coffee and Books is one of the most inviting cafes in Tel Aviv. It all has to do with its second floor converted apartment area. While tables outside on the sidewalk and those inside on the ground floor serve as overflow seating, it's the upstairs seating that patrons covet.
The second floor of the coffee shop is part library (you can peruse books or buy them), part lounge area (couch seating), and part balcony seating (with great people watching of the trendy street below). The owners of this cafe consider their business to be first and foremost a home, and note in the introduction to their menus that Luche is meant to offer "a thorough experience for the body, soul, and mind". While some might find this to be a flaky statement, Luche is one of those places that pays attention to the little things and thus succeeds in impressing absolutely.
Flanked on either side by other popular cafes, Luche just celebrated its one year anniversary and looks to be on the right track when it comes to filling tables. Luche's menu has received accolades from all local press and rightfully so. They have a whopping 11 breakfast meal options (which are served all day), as well as specialty sandwiches and salads. One final compliment: The service is quick, and always comes with a smile. From young parents with tots, to single 20-somethings, to grannies and grandpas, patrons at Luche (meaning "light" in Spanish) are all attracted to this hotspot.
