Hollywood actress Uma Thurman was scheduled to leave Israel Monday after a four-day stopover here. Thurman was in town for friend Amalia Dayan's wedding, but also caught a few sights on the side.
The wedding was held at the Tower of David Museum in the capital on Sunday, June 18. Though the Kill Bill star garnered a fair share of the attention, the bride is a celebrity in her own right. Dayan is the daughter of entertainment mogul Assi, and Aharona, and granddaughter of late defense minister Moshe Dayan. She is among the rising stars on the New York art scene and co-owns a much hyped contemporary art gallery with Stefania Bortolami. It is through her New York connections that Dayan and Thurman are said to have met.
While photographed during her visit, Thurman kept most of the paparazzi at bay by choosing to stay at the out of the way Ambassador Hotel in East Jerusalem.
During her stopover, Thurman checked out Jerusalem's Old City, visited Tel Aviv, attended an Aviv Gefen concert (Gefen is Dayan's cousin), and dined at restaurants such as Arcadia, which closed its doors for her private dinner party.
While Thurman's visit has come to a close, Israel's appeal continues to attract American actors. Wentworth Miller, hunky star of the popular TV series Prison Break, is the latest star expected to grace our shores in the coming months.
