The rules of journalism as well as common decency prevent me from writing anything cooler than: Hell, yeah! Aside from a few unfortunate episodes of sound system feedback (which I can only assume is the fault of the venue, changed at the last minute to Hangar 11 on Tel Aviv's port), Cypress Hill succeeded in shaking up Tel Aviv so hard it was as though the band brought a taste of its native LA's San Andreas fault to rock our little Mediterranean world.
That's right, Cypress Hill. You might remember them from such periods of time as 10 years ago. But now, I'll always remember them from this show.
By this point, I'm well accustomed to seeing now many of the groups I loved then. Time warp be damned, Tel Aviv welcomed these Mary Jane reps with open arms and plumes of smoke from glorious green ganja and happy brown-hued hash. And, in excellent elementary school etiquette, people brought enough to share, with j's being passed around the crowd and thrown onstage.
For sure sharing is a nice thought and all, but did you really think that Cypress Hill wouldn't bring their own sticky icky? Silly you. Declaring a smoke-break, a big doobie was produced, lit and smoked while passed around the stage.
It was little surprise that Israel's Green Leaf party sponsored the event.
Oh, Cypress Hill also played such favorites as "Insane in the Brain" and "Hits from the Bong" to which I, and others, enjoyed dancing.
