Lets Have That International Peace Conference
After all, Israel has so much in common with Europe, as they both were conquered by Arabs. Europe from 715 to 1492, and Israel from 330 to 1917. Israel and Europe today both share Islamic and Jihad enlightenment in their nations. This conference will give all parties a win.
Lets use the EU and Quartet playbook, Two States for Two Peoples, living side by side with their neighbors in peace. In Europe lets return to the 715 to 1492 borders allowing the caliphate to rule, giving the Arabs their own land. Allow Israel to return to its 968 to 1006 CE borders and allow all the Palestinians and Arabs to return to the nations from which they came to conquer Israel. Since France is the Godfather of the Islamic revolution, it only makes sense for all of Paris to be the caliphate capital of Europe.
Only a comprehensive peace accord, would settle the Israel Palestinian issue and reclaim EU's Arab promise. I still haven't found that study that proves Israels settlements are the cause of all the worlds ills, and the law that says the settlements are illegal.
Lets be fair, the peace talks would include, Muhammad Abbas PLO, John Kerry US, Ki Moon Ban UN, Sergey Lavrov Russia, Federica Mogherini, EU, and Kito de Boer Quartet, all representing Palestinian interests in Israel. Then to achieve a long and lasting peace as Obama and Clinton had said, we need a dialogue with Islam to stabilize the region,so we must include, Muhammad Abbas PLO, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi head of ISIS, Sirajuddin Haqqani head of the insurgency in Afghanistan, Hafiz Mohammad Saeed the Pakistani born militant who bought us the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Abubakr Shekau Boko Haram, Qassem Suleimani Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis Kata'ib Hezbollah known for ambushing U.S. troops in Iraqi. Now we have a “Peace” conference.
We must admit the 2002 Quartet made up of the UN, EU, US and Russia, support for a Palestinian economic development, has not amounted to much. The PA is still not sustainable and have no industry to support employment. The Quartet simply has nothing to show for its efforts. The EU’s objective for a two state solution with an independent, democratic, contiguous and viable Palestinian state living side by side with Israel and its other neighbors, has also failed to show any possibility, even in the near distant future. Its a failure.
Since the EU's long term policy asserts that negotiations remain the best way forward, lets have this conference. Europe holds the key for much of this conferences success. The EU has failed to provide any significant support to the Palestinian refugees in the UNRWA camps. There is no reason that developed communities couldn't have been built and global industry set up shop there to provide Palestinians with an honest living and a better way of life. Lets bring the UNRWA camps to Europe. The Arabs seem to make Europe their choice over that of returning home or living in another Arab nation. After all they have integrated so well into European life, why ask them to leave, return or move on to an Arab nation?
Muslim warriors conquered lands for Islam from Persia to Spain, including Israel. Muslims then pushed further into Europe. The Umayyads empire spread from the Middle East into Europe. In 715, The Arabs and Berbers conquered the Iberian Peninsula. Their incursion into Western Europe was stopped in France. The Muslim cavalry looted and burned churches, monasteries, and entire cities. A Muslim governor was established in Iberia. They conquered the city of Bordeaux and burned the cathedral at Poitiers. The Muslims, remained in Iberia for more than 700 years. The Spanish language contains many words derived from Arabic. Many Spanish buildings show the influence of Islamic architecture, which Spain brought to the New World and can be seen throughout Latin America and the Southwestern United States. So, the Muslim can very well feel at home in Europe, not just in the West Bank of Israel. And they have just as much a claim to Europe as they have to Israel.
In 900, the island of Sicily came under Muslim control for almost 300 years. Muslims also spread into India and further east. In 1452, the Muslims were so successful, that within about 100 years, the Ottomans added Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Romania, and Hungary to their empire. In 1492, Christians finally reconquered all of Spain. They expelled the Jews and Muslims who refused to convert to Christianity. So again the Muslims have a legitimate claim to Europe, on the same equivalent plane as they do the West Bank of Israel.
Arab warriors are filled with confidence that God destined them for victory. They believe that if they died in battle for God, they would become martyrs, rewarded for eternity in paradise. They do not fear death, which made them fierce fighters. Those Arab warriors who survived battle benefited from the loot, women, and slaves they captured. The people conquered by the Muslims face a choice. They could denounce their religion and convert to Islam, pay a taxes, become a slave, or be executed.
In the 7th century and than again in the 12 century Jews escaped slaughter and conversion in Arabia. They immigrated to Palestine, a return to the land their ancestors had fled from the Romans, joining their Jewish brethren who had never left. Many had come from Medina, which had been originally settled by Jews. Under the Arab conquest of Palestine, Jews became Dhimmas with restrictions, high tax and humiliations.
There were Jews that had remained in Roman "Palestine," and Jewish communities quickly returned after the Roman conquest, when Jewish leaders were permitted by Roman leaders to return, and practice their Judaism. The Jewish population in 70 AD was between 5 and 7 million. Rome fell to the Christian Byzantine Empire which ruled Palestine from 330 to 1453, until it fell to the Ottomans that year.
This conference is needed to clarify contradictions of Arab claims to historical right of sovereignty in the land of "Palestine." The Arabs never created their own name for the land they now claim as their own. Neither was there ever an independent country of Palestine, nor a "Palestinian" rule. The word "Palestine" was given to the land of Judea by the Romans when Roman conquerors unsuccessfully attempted to purge the land of the "nationalistic," obstinate Jews.
This cannot go on forever. Abbas, PLO and world leaders have not been able to provide the direction and leadership that is needed to put this issue to rest, only Israel has to have the resources and the ability to do so, otherwise it is just not going to happen. It is best that only Israel be allowed to conclude this chapter in history without an outside interference, they are not needed.
