AI, smart bandages, and a special drone: MADAthon 2024 winners announced

The MADAthon 2024 winners have been announced, highlighting innovative tech solutions for emergency medical services from students, mentors, and industry experts.

The MADAthon, an initiative of MADA and Afeka – Academic College of Engineering Tel Aviv, was founded to assist in the development of advanced technological solutions for emergency medicine. This year, due to the war, the joint hackathon focused on developing technological solutions to enhance emergency medical services. Accordingly, the working groups were composed of interdisciplinary teams of students from all fields of engineering, mentors, and industry professionals.

Winners:

  1. First Place: "Smart Anamnesis" – an AI-based development that shortens and streamlines the patient anamnesis registration process. The team included Polina Aliev, Anna Vaser, Noa Pinter, and Lior Milik from the Medical Engineering program, and Daniel Dagot, TechLead. The team won NIS 4,000.

  2. Second Place: "Smart Bandage for Infection Detection" – a bandage that detects infections by changes in pH levels and helps prevent sepsis. The team included Ariel Yefet, Noam Yudla, Noi Luzon from the Medical Engineering program, and Eran Gefen from the Mechanical Engineering program. The team won a cash prize of NIS 3,000.

  3. Third Place: "Drone-Ambulance" – a drone that delivers medical supplies to remote areas. The team included Michal Pitchhadze, Liron Kraus, Linoy Avishai, Adi Sha'ar, and Eden Omar from the Medical Engineering program. The team won a cash prize of NIS 2,000.
