Against the backdrop of the annual global cellular congress MWC in Barcelona, the communications group Partner and the global company Ericsson announced today that they have successfully demonstrated the first data call over a 5G Standalone network, based on the world's most advanced 5G technology. The announcement follows their declaration about a year ago, stating that they signed a deal to establish an advanced cloud-based network, which they expect to officially launch in Israel in the coming months with an investment of tens of millions of shekels.
The new technology has many advantages in both the private and business sectors. It enables optimal and maximum utilization of 5G features, including: ultra-fast browsing, low latency, quick access to media, high-quality voice and video calls, stability, reliability, security, encryption, continuity, and high network capacity.
At the same time, the technology is expected to revolutionize and provide new opportunities for industries, organizations, and businesses, thanks to two central features it brings. The first is "Network Slicing," which allows the exclusive allocation of a section of the network for a client or a dedicated service, based on its characteristics, with flexible adaptation to its specific needs. The second is "Low Latency," which enables short reaction times, a critical feature for gaming experiences, real-time remote management and control (medicine, command and control centers), as well as for IoT trends and industrial automation (industrial robots, automated logistics centers, autonomous vehicles, and more).
Partner joins a select group of international companies around the world that have announced the establishment of an upgraded 5G network. Like them, the 5G networks initially rely on a 4th generation core, with the second and complementary phase being the establishment of a network based on an independent "5G Standalone" core.
Partner's VP of Engineering, Yigal Unna: "Today we mark a significant milestone in the development of communication infrastructures in the State of Israel, which places us at the threshold of a new era concerning the consumption of communication services. The progress in establishing the network, together with our partner Ericsson, demonstrates our commitment to driving innovation and providing advanced solutions and an exceptional service experience for our private and business customers. The new network will open before us a new world of opportunities and varied collaborations."
CEO of Ericsson Israel, Alon Berman: "We are proud of our deep and successful collaboration with the Partner Communications Group in the mission to bring advanced fifth-generation services to its customers. Ericsson's leading technology provides a high level of connectivity, the ability to deliver customized solutions to customer requirements, and the provision of new services to private and business customers seeking high performance levels. This significant step in the development of communication networks will lead to growth and innovation."
