Electra Group continues to expand its presence in the United States with its subsidiary, Gilston, winning a significant contract. They have been selected to undertake the lighting system installation in the new Terminal 1 being constructed at JFK Airport in New York City. The anticipated value of the contract stands at approximately NIS 368 million.
Gilston, chosen from among 13 major players in the market, will oversee the installation of around 30,000 lighting fixtures and various supporting electrical systems as part of the project. Work is set to commence immediately and is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2026, in time for the new terminal's opening.
The new Terminal 1, covering approximately 230,000 square meters, is a central component of the $19 billion project to upgrade JFK Airport in New York City.
"We are committed to further expanding our operations in the United States"
In addition to this contract, Electra recently announced another major win in the U.S. Their subsidiary, F.W. Sims (66.9% owned by Electra), secured the mechanical works contract for the construction of the Buffalo Bills football stadium in Buffalo, New York. The new stadium, with an expected investment of around $1.7 billion, will serve the NFL team.
Electra entered the U.S. market in 2019, acquiring control of Lumen Electric and Gilston Electrical. These two companies have been operating for decades in the New York area, specializing in electrical work for public entities and major corporations. In February 2020, Electra acquired F.W. Sims, which operates in the HVAC sector. Electra USA, consolidating Electra's U.S. operations, has already secured contracts worth over $550 million, reflecting continuous growth in its activities.
Electra's international operations span 15 countries across four continents, with revenues reaching approximately NIS 1.76 billion in 2023.
Itamar Deutscher commented, "The selection of Electra USA for such a prestigious and significant project as the new Terminal 1 at JFK Airport underscores our company's capabilities and prominent position in the American market."
"This win follows another significant contract awarded to Electra USA earlier this year for mechanical works on the Buffalo Bills football stadium project, solidifying Electra's standing as a major player in its activities in the New York area. We are committed to further expanding our operations in the U.S. and internationally."
