Israeli cybersecurity startup Mitiga has advanced to the finals of the prestigious Sandbox innovation contest at the RSA Cybersecurity Conference 2024, to be held next week in San Francisco, USA. Mitiga is the only Israeli company among the top 10 finalists selected for RSA's 18th annual innovation competition. Over the years, this competition has been a significant milestone for pioneering Israeli and international companies in the cybersecurity field.
Founded in 1991 by RSA Security, the RSA Conference initially focused on encryption topics. Over time, it has evolved into the premier cybersecurity summit, emphasizing cloud security, applications, AI technologies, and more. The conference attracts around 45,000 cybersecurity experts, company executives, entrepreneurs, investors, government officials, and others annually. Approximately 500 companies exhibit their cybersecurity solutions, while industry leaders share their cyber vision in 500 presentations and panels.
Mitiga enhances organizations' Cyber Security Operation Centers (SOCs) capabilities in the cloud era by providing advanced visibility, threat detection, investigation, and response capabilities for cloud and SaaS applications. Mitiga's mission is to empower organizations facing cloud threats, reducing the time needed to identify, investigate, and respond to them - from over 200 days to just hours.
Tal Mozes, Co-founder and CEO of Mitiga, stated, "Our inclusion in the final list of candidates for RSA's Sandbox innovation award is not only a great honor but also evidence of our vital role in today's cybersecurity landscape. As representatives of the Israeli cybersecurity industry, we are excited to showcase how Israeli technology addresses the global need for comprehensive cloud threat management."
Established in 2019 by Tal Mozes, Ofer Maor, and Ariel Frans, Mitiga's founders have a track record in the cybersecurity sector. Mozes and Maor were serial entrepreneurs in cybersecurity, involved in the founding of Seeker Security (acquired by Synopsys) and Hacktics (acquired by Ernst & Young). Following the sale of Hacktics, Tal Mozes served as a partner and head of international cyber operations at Ernst & Young. Ofer Maor led Synopsys' cybersecurity strategy post the Seeker Security acquisition, participating in the acquisition of eight additional companies in the field. Ariel Frans, a lieutenant colonel (res.) served over 20 years in various intelligence, IT, offensive and defensive cyber roles in the Israeli Defense Forces' Unit 8200. Frans received awards for his contributions to Israel's security.
Since its inception, Mitiga has raised $45 million, with $38 million in Series A funding completed in early 2023 led by ClearSky, with participation from Glilot Capital Partners, Samsung Next, Blackstone, Atlantic Bridge, and DNX. Due to growing demand for its solutions, Mitiga secured a significant investment from Cisco's investment arm. The funding rounds helped drive product innovation, expand customer base, platform capabilities, and workforce.
The company employs 60 people, with 40 based in Israel, and plans to recruit additional staff for its offices in Israel, New York, and London. Among its managed service customers are 500 leading organizations worldwide, including Fortune 500 companies relying on the company's cloud protection solutions.
