In 2023, Israel became one of the countries with the highest penetration rates of electric vehicles, nearly 18%, compared to only 7.5% in the United States and between 15 to 20 percent in Germany. China is still ahead of us with 25% and Norway, the global leader, with 90%.

Now even urban municipalities are starting to transition to electric. While some local authorities and municipalities have purchased small quantities of electric vehicles for evaluation, the Binyamin Council is the first to transition all its fleet of company vehicles to electric in a major deal in the urban sector, and one of the largest in the local car market for electric vehicles.

The council purchased 70 MG models, some of them the compact MG4 family and some of them the ZS crossover model. They will replace high-mileage gasoline cars, a move expected to save the council millions of shekels a year.

As part of the deal, dozens of charging stations were installed in the council's parking lot for the new electric vehicles. The Binyamin Regional Council is streamlining its vehicle fleet. Electric cars will replace gasoline cars. The green move will save the council millions of shekels a year, in addition to the significant reduction in pollutant emissions.

Council CEO Ilan Rom: "Also in the field of transportation, we are improving and saving. The move will allocate budget for council activities for the benefit of its residents. Later on, we will switch more vehicles to electric cars."
