Tnuva, Israel's top food company, has partnered with Meir Group, a vehicle, motorcycle, and truck importer, to launch Israel's first electric truck. This groundbreaking vehicle, a VOLVO FE from Meir Group, will distribute Tnuva dairy products in Petah Tikva and the Gush Dan area.

The VOLVO FE electric truck, also the first refrigerated electric truck in Israel, will operate from Tnuva's Dan Milk logistics center in Petah Tikva. The truck features an electric refrigeration unit that maintains controlled temperatures, complemented by a solar panel on its roof. This model is widely used in Europe for distribution and shipping, and now it makes its debut in Israel.

Weighing approximately 26 tons and powered by an electric motor equivalent to 350 horsepower, the VOLVO FE offers a range of up to 250 kilometers. It can be charged like any private electric vehicle, either at a standard charging station (8-10 hours) or a fast charging station (1.5-2 hours). Operating the electric truck is similar to a conventional one, except for the charging process. All drivers with a truck license must undergo training for troubleshooting and maintenance, provided by Meir Group’s service network. Tnuva will install the truck charging stations.

Sagi Shweifeld, VP of Tnuva’s Supply Chain Division, stated, "We are proud to be pioneers in Israel by integrating an electric truck as part of our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and improve environmental quality. This aligns with Tnuva's multi-year plan to use greener energy throughout the supply chain. The electric truck will allow us to continue delivering the freshest and highest quality products to our customers while safeguarding the environment."

Hagai Dekel, Manager of the Heavy Vehicle Division at Meir Group, commented, “Meir Group aims to help reduce pollutant emissions in Israel, and the electric truck is another step in this effort. The operating costs of the electric truck are significantly lower compared to fuel costs. Additionally, the truck significantly reduces pollutant emissions, such as CO2 and NOx. The truck will be suitable for entering cities that restrict or may restrict the entry of polluting vehicles in the future. Volvo offers electric truck solutions for all weight ranges starting from 15 tons, leading the electric revolution in the truck market while ensuring clean air and a quiet working environment."
