The unicorn company Hailo from Tel Aviv, a leading manufacturer of AI processors for end devices, won the technological innovation award of the research company Frost & Sullivan for its groundbreaking artificial intelligence processors from the Hailo-15 family. The award is given to companies that develop and implement growth strategies based on advanced thinking and providing an effective response to future needs and market opportunities.
Frost & Sullivan chose Hailo after a thorough analysis of the various companies in the market and their evaluation based on their ability to leverage technology and the impact of technology on the business world. Hailo excelled in many criteria in the field of vision processing, mainly thanks to the artificial intelligence processors of the Hailo-15 model that were designed to be integrated directly into smart cameras in order to provide an unprecedented level of video processing and analysis in end devices.
The Hailo-15 artificial intelligence processors with a processing power of up to 20 tera operations per second (TOPS) are the most efficient processors in the world in terms of the ratio between performance and cost and between performance and power consumption. Thanks to this, the processors enable the utilization of AI capabilities both to improve image and video quality and for advanced video analysis, so that users do not have to choose or compromise on the quality of the camera's performance.
Hailo-15 processors make it possible to perform video analysis in the camera and not in the cloud, a move that saves video bandwidth and makes it possible to significantly reduce the cost of deploying cameras on a large scale. At the same time, it makes it possible to improve privacy thanks to the fact that data processing is done on the end device and sending only anonymous information to the cloud. The product includes a highly sophisticated system of AI-based video analysis, which protects both the privacy and security of people.
"We are pleased to be recognized for our leadership in technology and innovation and continue to be committed to bringing powerful AI processing to a variety of applications and markets," said Or Danon, CEO and co-founder of Hailo. "Hundreds of companies around the world in the automotive, retail and security industries already place their trust in the technology ours and we are happy to receive reinforcement from a respected organization like Frost & Sullivan."
Hailo was established in February 2017 by graduates of the Elite Technological Unit of the Intelligence Corps. The company, which became a unicorn two and a half years ago, announced in early April that it had raised $120 million and launched its high-performance GenAI accelerators from the Hailo-10 model that herald a new era in which users can own and run GenAI (Generative Artificial Intelligence) applications locally on their devices without the need to register for cloud-based services of creative artificial intelligence. In total, Hailu has raised $340 million since its inception.
Hilo has offices in the USA, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, China, South Korea, and a network of distributors throughout Asia, North America, South America, Australia and Europe and its products serve more than 300 customers worldwide. The company currently employs over 250 people in Tel Aviv and abroad, and is recruiting additional employees to support the accelerated growth. The Hilo processors are the product of rethinking the usual computing architecture and they allow smart devices to perform sophisticated deep learning tasks such as real-time object recognition, while minimizing the power consumption, size and cost of the chip. The processors are intended to be integrated into many types of smart machines and smart devices in a variety of sectors, including automotive, security, computing, industry 4.0 and retail.
