Like a master: A carefully planned house in Shoham

This house covers an area of 500 square meters, not an easy challenge. Architect Joel Jospe designed it with artistic elements. The result of the creation is before you.

Architecture and Design: Joel Jospe

Architect Joel Jospe of Jospe Architects chose a quote from his favorite artist Edgar Degas, when describing the unique design experience of a house in Shoham, which covers an area of 500 square meters and overlooks the landscape to the west: "Art is not Only what the artist sees, is mostly what she makes others see." Joel, who is an artist in his soul, often creates and paints beyond the work of architecture, he chose to design the house in Shoham with clean lines of white, gray and wood with dramatic artistic elements that turn the house into another work of art. The architectural design made me feel like I was creating an immortal creation that serves the needs of the family that lives at home, and brings all the family members pure pleasure."

The house has three levels, the parents' room is located on the ground floor, so that the parents can enjoy a horizontal walk and are always close to the main spaces in the house, as well as so that they can easily go out to the garden and the pool. The bedroom was designed as an open unit that also includes immediate access to a large and impressive closet and the open bathroom and garden. "I really like that the outside, which includes a garden and its plants, will be an integral part of the interior of the house and will be a direct continuation of the house, I even like to place the vehicles close to the kitchen or the entrance, because the vehicle in which we leave objects and items is also part of being at home, actually."

The kitchen is located on the north side of the house and is connected on one side to the parking lot and on the other side meets a large showcase facing a large and professional outdoor kitchen. In the kitchen, a particularly long island is placed, one end of which reaches near the staircase. In the cooking area, an ornamental flooring was placed to emphasize the work area and to blur the dirt typical of this area.

Joel Jospe paved the entrance floor with stone, as well as the stairs leading down to the basement. The second floor was designed with parquet and therefore the stairs going up to it are made of massive wood in the same color as the parquet. On this floor are the children's rooms. A window "breaks" into the stairs going up to the second floor, injecting direct light through a prism that appears as an interesting design element on the front of the house above the main entrance. On the third floor is the music room of the father, a high-tech man. From the windows you can look out to a unique view that stretches all the way to the sea. The uniqueness of the room and the fact that it is the only one on the floor caused it to be designed in warm, contrasting colors such as red, red and orange next to a dominant gray. The place is a professional music room and the walls are lined with acoustic insulating materials.

The highlight of the house is the stairs, which are a striking dramatic element that contributes to the sense of design of the house. Joel Jospe claims that the stairs do not have to be uniform and that a different staircase can be designed for each floor. "I wanted to create stairs that would give a feeling of floating in the air in a minimalist style from the second floor towards the attic and I was able to do this by designing a glass railing that is actually the beam that holds the stairs, for a moment it seems scary to go up the staircase but with the first step the fear disappears." The appearance of the stairs gives a sense of dynamism and sophisticated movement and they lead to the music room.

Form follows function According to Le Corbusier, the renowned Swiss architect that Joel Jospe is very close to serves the idea and design that the staircase, which was designed as a sculptural piece that stands out from every corner of the house, should be unusual and indeed the railing was designed with white vertical iron strips at equal distances that create their own rhythm and it seems every moment that they are actually Pleasant in space. The house is designed from the outside in a light gray shade, with the roof as if receding from the boundaries of the house, when the house looks like a house with a flat roof and above it is located the upper floor that has flat and black tiles, which highlights the contemporary and clean line of the house and maintains a distinct high-tech look.
