With a French mother and an American father, the Jeep Wrangler was launched in Israel this morning. It's the first electric vehicle from the off-road brand, marking Jeep's first collaboration with the French part of Stellantis. The Wrangler is based on the Peugeot 2008 platform, which also serves with slight modifications Opel (Mokka), Fiat (600), and soon Alfa Romeo (Milano). It is manufactured at Fiat's factory in Poland, for the European market.

Measuring 4.08 meters in length, 1.78 meters in width, 1.53 meters in height, and with a wheelbase of 2.56 meters, the Wrangler is 22 cm shorter than the Peugeot, one cm narrower, two cm lower, and its wheelbase is four cm shorter. The cargo volume of 380 liters is smaller by 25 liters.

However, it has received the latest propulsion system from the French platform, which has not yet reached the e2008 in Israel, featuring a 54 kWh battery, an official combined range of 400 km, and a 156 kW engine. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 9 seconds and its maximum speed is 150 km/h. The maximum fast charging speed is only 100 kW, but it suffices for a 20% to 80% charge in 24 minutes according to the manufacturer's data.

Currently, the Wrangler is only marketed with front-wheel drive, like other versions of the platform. However, Jeep is expected to launch a 4xe version like the Wrangler and Compass: dual propulsion, where the rear wheels are driven by an electric motor. In the Wrangler, as in the Wrangler and Compass, it is a plug-in hybrid vehicle. However, in the second quarter, a light hybrid version is also expected to arrive in the country, with a 1,200 cm3 turbocharged gasoline engine, 48 volts, 136 hp, and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the front-wheel-drive version comes with the Selec-Terrain system, which adjusts power transfer to the wheels for snow, mud, or sand, and an automatic hill descent system. The ground clearance is relatively high, 20 cm (22.3 under the battery), with good departure angles, each 32 degrees, expected to provide good off-road capability better than the average front-wheel-drive Jeep.
