French company DxOMark, which we have covered extensively here on the channel, conducts various tests on smartphones, mainly for industry clients. However, its rankings—based on rigorous lab tests using scientific equipment—have also become a standard for consumers, especially the detailed smartphone camera rankings published by the company. Recently, DxOMark updated its rankings with several notable smartphones released in recent months, including the iPhone 16 series. Here’s the updated ranking.

Topping the list is Huawei's Pura 70 Ultra, which operates without the Android operating system, scoring 163 points. Just four points behind, with 158 points, are the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and Honor's Magic6 Pro. In fourth place is the iPhone 16 Pro Max, with a total score of 157 points. Moreover, Apple's flagship device has claimed the top spot in the video ranking, receiving praise for "category-leading video quality, with highly detailed and noise-free video images, even in low-light conditions."

Interestingly, the Huawei P60 Pro, the company's previous flagship device, holds a respectable seventh place. Right behind it, in eighth place, are two closely ranked devices: the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple’s flagship from last year, and the Pixel 9. Google’s flagship device from last year, the Pixel 8 Pro, ranks at 11th.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is positioned at 16th, while the iPhone 14 Pro, launched exactly two years ago, sits at 21st. However, it is surprising to find Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra lagging far behind in 26th place.
